Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene has cautioned Ghanaians to be vigilant against potential misinformation campaigns by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) aimed at discrediting the government’s poultry policy, “Nkoko Nkitinkiti.”
The minister warned that the NPP might resort to deceptive tactics, including killing birds and falsely attributing the deaths to the government’s flagship program.
The “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” initiative, launched last week at Jubilee Park in the Ashanti Region, is a key policy of the government designed to boost poultry production nationwide.
Speaking on Ashanti Prime TV’s program “Nokware Mmere,” Dr. Amoakohene expressed concerns that the opposition could fabricate evidence to undermine the policy’s success.
“Let me issue this warning, now that the Nkoko Nkitinkiti policy has gained attention, the NPP will likely buy birds, kill them, take pictures, and use these to falsely claim that the program is failing,” he said.
“These people I know well. If you see the NPP criticizing Nkoko Nkitinkiti, be cautious and scrutinize their claims.”
Dr. Amoakohene described such acts as deliberate propaganda, accusing the opposition of potential fabrication by staging imagery or videos of dead birds to suggest the program is ineffective.
“We know them well. We’ve stayed in this region, grown together, and understand what they can and cannot do” the minister added.
He encouraged Ghanaians to utilize new media platforms, such as social media, to verify the truth amid the political turmoil.
“Ghanaians, God being so good, there is new media and new opportunities for democracy to deepen. Today, all you need is your phone and your camera; the truth is there,” he said.
Again, the minister assured that the government is keeping detailed records of beneficiaries and progress under the Nkoko Nkitinkiti policy to maintain transparency and promptly refute any falsehoods.
“Anyone benefiting from the policy is logged, and progress updates will be shared publicly. This way, if false claims arise, we can counteract them effectively,” he noted.
