The former Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu(esq), has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to do all it can to win and retain power in the 2024 General Election.
According to him, the NPP’s mantra of “breaking the 8” was a must and, therefore, urged the party to work effortlessly towards that vision.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9fm in Kumasi with Sir John, Dr Kokofu said, “His Excellency John Mahama has been packaged and given to Ghanaians and rejected overwhelmingly on two occasions. So, NPP should puts its house in order and again exploits clearly the weaknesses that he [John Mahama] has, even his governance style which the people haven’t forgotten, it’ll be very difficult for them to come to power .
He stated that, “All I’m saying is that it is not for the NPP to be complacent, it’s for the party to put its acts together, unite, work hard and that mantra ‘break the 8’ is possible.”
He said that “it is absolutely possible, depending on the way we rearrange and position ourselves so that in the end we are able to ‘break that 8’. For me, the mantra of ‘break the 8’ is a must for the NPP and I think that in the end, we’ll be judged not based on anything, but performance.”
He called on Ghanaians to retain the NPP in power.
He believed the performance of Nana Akufo-Addo administration over the past seven and half years guarantee the party another term.
Citing the government’s agenda to transform the country’s public schools, roads and others and called on Ghanaians to vote for the NPP based on the party’s sterling performance.
“My word to Ghanaians is that no constitutional provision that says beyond 8. Our government has done well, come to education, look at our track record in health, in industry, roads, in every sector ,we deserve another term.
