The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu, has cautioned aspirants in the upcoming presidential primaries to refrain from using intemperate language during their campaigns.
With the party’s internal elections scheduled for January 31, campaigning has intensified, and some aspirants have been taking verbal swipes at each other. Speaking in an interview with speaking to Starr News, monitored by Kumasi Mail Mr. Osei-Owusu urged all candidates to stay focused on their message and avoid personal attacks.
“Stay focused on why you should be the choice,” he advised. “Leave voters with the information that will make them prefer you to the other aspirants. That’s all that matters.”
He emphasized that the elections committee is committed to ensuring a transparent, fair, and credible process that reflects the true will of the delegates.
“Our policy position is that, at the end of it all, every contestant and every voter will be satisfied that the results are a reflection of their votes nothing more,” Mr. Osei-Owusu said. “We insist on transparency and fairness at every stage.”
