The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred former Member of Parliament and Minister of State, Sarah Adwoa Safo, to its National Disciplinary Committee for breaching party directives.
In a formal notice dated March 20, 2025, and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party stated that Adwoa Safo’s recent media comments, particularly on Joy News’ Pulse Show, were in clear violation of a directive instructing all members to refrain from discussing issues that could create disaffection within the party.
The statement emphasized that the directive, issued to all NPP members under reference NPP/HQ/PR/2025/03/DAM, explicitly prohibited discussions in the media and other public platforms that could incite unrest, negativity, or disunity within the party.
According to the NPP, Adwoa Safo’s actions not only disregarded this instruction but also undermined ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen the party.
“As a former Member of Parliament, Former Deputy Majority Leader, and Former Minister of State, she was expected to set a good example and uphold the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity that define our great party,” the statement read. It further cited her conduct as a breach of Article 3(5) of the NPP constitution, which mandates members to promote and defend the good name of the party.
In light of this, the party has referred her to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action.
The NPP reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining internal cohesion and enforcing party discipline among its members.
