Chief of Staff, Akosua Fremah Osei Opare, has reaffirmed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) commitment to supporting female traders by creating a special fund that will offer soft loans without the need for collateral.
This initiative, she says, is designed to promote economic inclusion and reduce poverty among women entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the Race Course Market in Kumasi, where she inaugurated the rehabilitation of sections damaged by a fire, Madam Osei Opare highlighted the NPP’s promise of a Women’s Trade Empowerment Fund in its manifesto. The fund will provide loans and grants to women in business, enabling them to participate more fully in the economy.
“This policy will change the face of women-owned businesses by removing the barrier of collateral security for loans,” she stated, addressing the traders who have long supported her efforts.
The Chief of Staff has also spearheaded the reconstruction of parts of the market affected by the inferno, as well as improvements to market infrastructure to enhance business activities.
Nana Kyeiwaa, the Queen Mother of Race Course traders, praised the market upgrades, noting the positive impact on their businesses.
The Race Course Market continues to benefit from the Chief of Staff’s dedicated support, underscoring the government’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs across the country.
