You are a national wrecker if you vote for NDC in Ashanti -NAPO

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has said the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections remain very critical for the NPP. He, therefore, appealed to the electorate in the Manhyia South Constituency to vote massively for the NPP.

Addressing party supporters and sympathizers after the constituency’s health walk, as part of campaign activities, the outgoing Manhyia South Member of Parliament said, “I beg you, the December 7, 2024, general elections are very crucial in the political history of the NPP.”

He explained, “After the 2024 elections, if you vote for Dr. Prempeh to become Vice President and Dr. Baffour Awuah as MP for Manhyia South, there will be no election in Ghana again. This is because the NPP will rule forever. The NPP will continue to hand over power to ourselves. Am I lying?” he said.

Addressing the mini rally, he further described the December 7 elections as the “mother of all elections” because the NPP, through President Nana Akufo-Addo, will hand over power to his Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

He accused the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) of deserting the Ashanti Region whenever they are in government, despite some political gains they have made in Ashanti in every election year.

He said, “Do you remember there was a certain President of Ghana who stood in Kumasi and said if they build roads in the region with gold, the electorate in the region will not vote for the NDC?” he alleged in reference to a doctored tape.

He claimed the NDC’s eight years in government targeted the Ashanti Region by crippling the National Health Insurance Scheme through the introduction of capitation, which he alleged claimed several lives.

He added, “Anyone in the Ashanti Region who will vote for the NDC in the 2024 election is a national wrecker, meaning you don’t wish the country well. The NDC has never done anything meaningful for the Ashanti Region. When we were calling for jobs under Mahama, he said he wouldn’t listen to anyone. When we asked for electricity, he danced in Kumasi, telling us he wouldn’t listen to us. He told us they had eaten all the meat, and what was left were bones,” he chanted.

Justin Frimpong Koduah, General Secretary of the party, entreated supporters in the region to intensify their campaign activities in order to maximize the party’s voter percentage in the region.

He said the party would be denied the election victory they are seeking if they do not get a turnout of about 90% and over 70% of the votes in the Ashanti Region for the NPP.

He disclosed that this is the only way the region will see the completion of the Boankra Inland Port project, Suame Interchange Project, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s maternity block, among other important government infrastructure projects in the region.

He promised, “Very soon the government will commence the construction of the Oforikrom Interchange to manage traffic in Kumasi. Therefore, there’s the need for us to campaign very hard for the government to meet our demands by ensuring we win the 2024 election.”

Dr. Baffour Awuah, the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for Manhyia South, assured the party’s top executives that the party will reward Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh for his efforts in the Ashanti Region.

He said, “The region remembers Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh’s efforts in the successful implementation of the government’s flagship education program, the Free SHS. The electorate says it has lifted the burden of the daily struggle to find money to pay their children’s SHS school fees.”
