The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has concluded its four-year investigation into the Airbus scandal, exonerating former President John Dramani Mahama of any wrongdoing.

In a press briefing today, the OSP Kissi Agyabeng announced that it found no evidence of bribery or corruption in the purchase of three military aircraft during Mahama’s presidency.

The investigation, which began in February 2020 and ended in June 2024, was conducted in collaboration with US and UK authorities.

Mahama was interviewed by the OSP on January 5, 2024, as part of the inquiry.

OSP further revealed that govt official one or Individual One is Mr. John Dramani Mahama, former President.

OSP stated “The OSP confirms the identity of the following individuals. The individual described as Government Official 1 by the UK Court and Individual 1 by the US Court is John Dramani Mahama. He is a citizen of Ghana and was the Vice President of Ghana from January 7 2009 to July 24,2012”.

While the OSP noted that Mahama’s close relationship with his brother, Samuel Adam Mahama, who was involved in the purchase, may have raised questions, it found no evidence to suggest that bribes were paid or that Mahama engaged in any wrongdoing.

The clearance of Mahama’s name brings an end to the high-profile investigation, which had sparked intense public interest and debate.
