The Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged the government to ensure the timely completion of the first phase of the university’s stalled hospital project following Parliament’s approval of funding.
Speaking at the 59th Special Congregation of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended Parliament for approving the budgetary allocation and expressed appreciation to the government for its support
He described the hospital project as a critical national investment that will enhance education, healthcare delivery, and overall development.
According to him, once completed, the facility will serve as a centre for advanced medical training and research, while also providing essential healthcare services to surrounding communities and the country at large.
Otumfuo stressed the importance of adhering to the original project timeline to ensure the facility becomes operational without further delay.
“While we are grateful for the progress made thus far, we respectfully appeal that the timeline for completion of the university hospital be adhered to as originally scheduled,” he said.
He added that he expects the first phase of the project to be ready for commissioning by the end of the year.
“I will be waiting on the president to commission the first phase of the project by the close of the year,” he stated.
