The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to education with the construction and official handover of a 600-bed girls’ dormitory to his alma mater, Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School in the Western North Region.
The modern three-storey facility, built through the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, comprises 10 spacious dormitory rooms on each floor, complete with lavatories, open washrooms, a washing and ironing area, a hall/common room, and a storeroom. It also includes an infirmary and a two-bedroom flat for the house mistress, ensuring proper care and supervision of students.
The project was constructed by Attachy Construction Limited, with Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) serving as consultants.
During the official handover ceremony, the Otumfuo’s Hiahene, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, who is also the Board Chairman of the Foundation, presented the completed building on behalf of the Asantehene. He handed over the keys to the traditional authorities of the area, who subsequently transferred them to the school’s management.
This remarkable initiative underscores Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s enduring vision to promote access to quality education while providing a safe and supportive environment for students—particularly young girls—to thrive academically.
Through projects like this, the Asantehene continues to affirm his legacy as a champion of education and youth empowerment across Ghana.
