President John Dramani Mahama is expected to officially receive the Bawku Mediation Report today at a ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra.
The presentation marks an important step in Ghana’s efforts to restore peace and stability in Bawku and nearby communities, which have experienced prolonged conflict.
The report is the outcome of several months of mediation led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He was appointed earlier this year by President John Dramani Mahama to lead a comprehensive peace process aimed at resolving the long-standing dispute in the area.
The mediation initiative focused on building consensus among the parties involved, promoting reconciliation, and developing a framework for peaceful and sustainable coexistence.
The ceremony, scheduled for 4:00 p.m., is expected to bring together senior government officials, traditional leaders, members of the mediation committee, and other key stakeholders.
Institutions invited to the event include the National Peace Council, the Christian Council, the Office of the National Chief Imam, the Catholic Secretariat, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the British High Commission, and regional authorities from the Upper East and North East regions.
Representatives from the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs and National Security are also expected to be present.
