The Ashanti Regional Security Council has identified over 50 potential hotspots across the region in the lead-up to the 2024 General Elections.
The Chairman of the Council, Simon Osei Mensah, confirmed that these flashpoints are spread across all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking at the launch of Akoma 87.9 FM’s Election Command Centre in Kumasi, Mr. Osei Mensah emphasized that these identified areas will receive heightened security attention on election day to prevent any form of violence.
“We are working to give extra focus to these flashpoints so that nothing untoward will happen on election day,” he stated.
The Regional Minister also mentioned that security measures have been strengthened across the region in preparation for the December polls. He highlighted that security personnel in the region have undergone extensive training to ensure they can effectively carry out their duties during the election period.
In his remarks, Mr. Osei Mensah called for peace and urged all citizens to contribute to a peaceful election process.
