The Secretary-General of the Pan African Youth Union, Bening Ahmed Wiisichong, has congratulated Ben Dotse Malor, Chief Editor of Dailies at the United Nations News on his appointment as Deputy Permanent Representative of Ghana to the United Nations in New York.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Mr. Wiisichong described the appointment as “one of the most exciting appointments by President Mahama” and expressed confidence that Mr. Malor’s elevation will “open doors to every Ghanaian interested in multilateralism.”
He commended Mr. Malor for his long-standing dedication to supporting Africans, especially Ghanaians, who visit the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
“I have never had the privilege of meeting you personally, but I follow your work and observe how available you have always been to support all Africans visiting the United Nations Headquarter especially Ghanaians,” Mr. Wiisichong wrote.
Mr. Wiisichong also urged the newly appointed diplomat to use his position to strengthen youth participation in multilateral processes.
“My request to you personally is for you to influence programming and scale up youth engagement within the UN,” he stated. “Most engagements and partnerships with youth organisations during UN meetings in New York are often led by Southern and East African missions and very recently the Mission of Nigeria.”
He noted that Ghana has historically been a leader in global and regional diplomacy and must continue to drive youth-focused initiatives within the United Nations system.
“Ghana by every standard is a leader in multilateral engagement and we must lead and drive processes with the UN and beyond,” he emphasized.
Highlighting Ghana’s leadership in continental youth structures, the Pan African Youth Union Secretary-General reminded that “the Republic of Ghana currently leads two strategic youth structures, the Pan African Youth Union and the Commonwealth Youth Council as Secretary-General and Chairperson respectively.”
Mr. Wiisichong pledged the support of the Pan African Youth Union to Mr. Malor in advancing youth development and innovation on the global stage.
“We will be available and ready to support you in this regard to bring the Ghanaian sense of ingenuity to bear on global and regional processes within the United Nations,” he assured.
He concluded his message by congratulating Mr. Malor once again and thanking President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as a “well-deserved and exciting appointment.”
“Congratulations once again Your Excellency Uncle Dotse for this well-deserved appointment and a big thank you to H.E. John Dramani Mahama for this exciting one. Let’s make Ghana great and strong,” he added.
