Parliament’s Appointments Committee releases schedule for vetting ministerial nominees

Summary of major activities of the last meeting of Parliament

The Appointments Committee of Parliament has released its schedule for the vetting of ministerial nominees appointed by President John Dramani Mahama.

The process is set to begin on Monday, January 20, 2025, and will conclude on Monday, January 27, 2025.

Nominees for various ministerial and regional positions will face the committee to demonstrate their competence and vision for their respective portfolios.

The vetting schedule is as follows:

Monday, January 20, 2025

  1. Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP – Minister Designate for the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
  2. Haruna Iddrisu, MP – Minister Designate for the Ministry of Education.
  3. Eric Opoku, MP – Minister Designate for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Tuesday, January 21, 2025

  1. Ahmed Ibrahim, MP – Minister Designate for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.
  2. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, MP – Minister Designate for the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
  3. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, MP – Minister Designate for the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.

Wednesday, January 22, 2025

  1. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, MP – Minister Designate for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
  2. Emelia Arthur, MP – Minister Designate for the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

  3. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, MP – Minister Designate for the Greater Accra Region.

The vetting process will assess the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and ability to execute their roles effectively. Members of the public and stakeholders are encouraged to follow the proceedings, which are expected to be broadcast live for transparency.

This vetting process marks a significant step in ensuring a competent team is assembled to address Ghana’s development challenges and drive national progress.
