Perez Chapel International (PCI) has entered a new era of leadership with the election of Bishop Raymond Kumah Acquah as the new Presiding Bishop, following a seamless transition from his predecessor, Bishop Ohene Benjamin Aboagye.
This change marks a significant moment for the church, which has over 25 international branches across the globe, a statement issued by the church said.
In 2022, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the Founder and Prelate of PCI, stepped down as Presiding Bishop at the age of 60. Agyinasare, who was consecrated in 1991 by the late Archbishop Malachi Ramsay, led the church with distinction for over three decades. His decision to retire set the stage for a new generation of leaders to step forward and continue his vision of spiritual growth and community service.
According to the statement, the election of Bishop Aboagye to the role of Presiding Bishop in 2022 was highlighted as a pivotal moment in PCI’s history. Aboagye, who began his ministry as a praise and worship leader, rose through the ranks to become one of the church’s most trusted leaders. During his tenure, Aboagye focused on strengthening PCI’s administrative structures, ensuring a solid foundation for future growth. As he concludes his term, PCI reflects on the substantial progress made under his leadership.
At the most recent Episcopal Council meeting, the church elected Bishop Raymond Kumah Acquah as the new Presiding Bishop, a decision that was ratified unanimously by the General Council. Bishop Acquah, who has been a part of PCI since 1997, is no stranger to the church’s mission. He got saved through the ministry of Archbishop Agyinasare and has since risen through the ranks, pastoring several PCI branches, and planting churches in six Francophone countries. Notably, Bishop Acquah served as the Resident Pastor at the Perez Dome, where he spearheaded significant growth.
With a strong educational background, Acquah holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana and is currently pursuing a Master’s in International Relations. His commitment to education and leadership development is evident, with his training at PCI’s Miracle Ministerial College, now part of Perez University College. Bishop Acquah’s extensive experience and passion for the church’s mission make him a natural choice to lead PCI in the years to come.
Alongside Bishop Acquah, Bishop Dr. Selasie Agyinasare has been elected as the new Administrative Bishop. Agyinasare, the son of Archbishop Agyinasare, has been a key figure in the church’s youth ministry. Having grown up within PCI, Agyinasare has contributed to various roles, including as the Presiding Elder at Church of Pentecost in Kiev, Ukraine, where he planted three churches. He later served as the Youth Pastor at Perez Dome, where he guided the youth in planting numerous churches. A graduate of Bohomolet National Medical University in Ukraine, Agyinasare’s medical background and management education from the University of Ghana provide him with a unique perspective on leadership.
In a heartfelt tribute, Rev. Mrs. Vivian Agyinasare, the co-founder of PCI, expressed her deep gratitude to the outgoing leadership, particularly Archbishop Agyinasare, for his years of service. She also offered words of encouragement to the incoming leaders, urging them to serve with a heart of compassion and dedication to the congregation. “May you lead with the love and heart of Christ,” she said, as she wished them God’s guidance in their new roles.
The official induction of Bishop Raymond Kumah Acquah and Bishop Dr. Selasie Agyinasare will take place on May 2, 2025, marking a new chapter for Perez Chapel International as they continue to expand their global reach and strengthen their impact on the lives of believers worldwide.
