The Ghana Police Service has arrested Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, for allegedly spreading a false prophecy about an impending global flood, which authorities say caused widespread fear and panic among the public.
Police sources confirmed that Eshun was picked up on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, following weeks of public concern over his activities and pronouncements.
Ebo Noah came into the public spotlight in August 2025 after claiming he had received divine instructions to construct modern-day arks to save people from a three-year global flood, which he said would begin on December 25, 2025.
He urged members of the public to abandon their homes and report to a designated location to prepare for the disaster.
According to reports, hundreds of people including some from neighbouring countries travelled to the site with their personal belongings, raising serious security, safety and humanitarian concerns.
Over several months, Ebo Noah shared videos on social media documenting the construction of wooden structures he described as arks, which he claimed were the only means of survival for those who believed his message.
When the predicted flood failed to occur on Christmas Day, he released another video asserting that his prayers and fasting had caused God to postpone the disaster.
Public outrage intensified after Ebo Noah appeared on stage during Sarkodie’s Rapperholic 2025 concert, where he told the audience to celebrate because the anticipated doom had been delayed.
The appearance sparked strong backlash on social media, with many accusing him of misleading the public and demanding his arrest.
The Ghana Police Service has since reiterated that the ban on so-called “fake prophecies” that create fear and panic remains in force, particularly during the December 31 Watch Night period.
Police warned that individuals who make claims capable of causing public anxiety or disorder will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
