The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a man seen in a viral Facebook video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife at their residence in Ofankor in the Ga East Municipality
The suspect, identified as John Odartey Lamptey, was picked up by police on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the family home.
According to the CID, two of his siblings — Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey — were also arrested after they attempted to attack a female tenant they suspected of recording and circulating the video. The tenant was rescued and placed under protection.
Police say efforts are ongoing to locate the victim, who fled the residence before officers arrived, to ensure her safety.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that perpetrators face the full rigour of the law.
