President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians, particularly voters in the Ashanti Region, to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 Presidential Candidate.

Speaking at an engagement with professional bodies at the True Vine Hotel in Kumasi on Sunday, November 24, 2024, the President encouraged voters to choose Dr. Bawumia, positioned as number one on the ballot, in the December 7 presidential election.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s readiness to lead the nation, citing his integrity and innovative ideas as critical qualities to ensure continued progress.

“Dr. Bawumia is well-prepared to take over and build on the solid foundation we have laid. What is Mahama coming to do? He has nothing new to offer,” the President remarked. He cautioned voters against repeating past mistakes, referencing the 2008 elections, and warned of potential regret if Ghanaians failed to back the NPP.

“We cannot afford to miss the fourth industrial revolution after missing the first, second, and third revolutions. Dr. Bawumia represents fresh ideas and the future. Let us ensure he secures victory come December 7,” Akufo-Addo added.

A Legacy of Accomplishments in the Ashanti Region

The President’s visit to the Ashanti Region marks the start of a three-day “Thank You Tour,” where he is engaging with key stakeholders to express gratitude for their unwavering support during the 2016 and 2020 elections.

During the meeting, President Akufo-Addo outlined his administration’s achievements in the region, including significant improvements in healthcare, road infrastructure, and the ongoing Agenda 111 hospital projects. He credited the people of the Ashanti Region for their support, which he noted was instrumental in helping him complete his two terms in office.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, and NPP Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), also highlighted completed and ongoing development projects in the region. They praised the President for ensuring the Ashanti Region received a fair share of national resources, noting that his leadership has left a lasting impact.

A Call to Action for December 7

As the 2024 election approaches, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his plea for Ghanaians to vote massively for Dr. Bawumia to sustain the progress made under the NPP.

“For eight years as my running mate and eight years as Vice-President, Dr. Bawumia has been a man of integrity and honesty. Let us trust him to lead us into a brighter future,” Akufo-Addo concluded.

The President’s Ashanti Region tour underscores the significance of the region as a stronghold for the NPP, and his appeal for continued support reflects the high stakes of the upcoming election.
