The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Mahama, is set to visit the Upper East Region on Thursday, as part of his nationwide gratitude tour following his successful re-election in the 2024 general elections.
The tour, which has taken across all 16 regions of Ghana, is aimed at personally thanking the chiefs, community leaders and residents for their overwhelming support.
The Upper East Region played a crucial role in securing President Mahama’s victory, with the region delivering significant votes that contributed to his re-election and his party’s parliamentary dominance. As such, his visit is expected to be both a celebration and an opportunity to renew his commitment to fulfilling the promises made during his campaign.
A grand durbar will be held at the Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga, where the President will address the chiefs and people of the region.
In his speech, he’s expected to reaffirm his government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, healthcare, education and job creation. President Mahama is likely to highlight ongoing and future projects, including road networks, modernized healthcare facilities and increased investment in agriculture to boost local economies.
One of the key highlights of his address will be his government’s plan to tackle youth unemployment through skills development programs and entrepreneurship support. He will also emphasise on the importance of national unity and collaboration in moving the country forward.
Beyond policy discussion, the visit will be a moment of appreciation, as President Mahama acknowledges the loyalty and dedication of the people of the Upper East Region. He is expected to urge them to continue supporting his administration as it works to deliver on its vision for more prosperous and inclusive Ghana.
As he rounds off his tour in the Upper East Region, President Mahama’s message remains clear: gratitude, commitment and renewed promise to uplift every Ghanaian community through sustainable development.
