President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), replacing COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
According to an official statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President, the appointment was made in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State.
COP Yohuno, a seasoned law enforcement officer with forty years of experience, is expected to lead efforts in modernizing and transforming the Ghana Police Service.
His appointment marks a significant leadership transition within the country’s security apparatus, with expectations that he will strengthen policing strategies and enhance public safety.
