President John Dramani Mahama has directed all government appointees to declare their assets by March 31, 2025, in accordance with Article 550 of the 1992 Constitution.
The directive, aimed at promoting transparency and accountability, aligns with his administration’s commitment to good governance and anti-corruption efforts.
Speaking at the Presidency after submitting his own asset declaration forms to the Auditor-General, President Mahama emphasized that failure to comply with the directive would attract severe sanctions, including possible removal from office.
“I have taken this step of publicly presenting my forms as a way of injecting openness and transparency into the asset declaration process. Corruption thrives in darkness, and the more light we shine on it, the more effectively we can fight it.”
The President further instructed his team to notify all appointees of the deadline, stressing that accountability must begin with the current administration.
“Even as we strive to hold past government officials accountable, I believe it is even more important to enforce anti-corruption measures among those presently serving in public office. Charity, they say, begins at home.”
President Mahama assured Ghanaians that his government remains committed to fighting corruption to ensure that national resources are used solely in the interest of the people.
The announcement marks a significant move in Ghana’s governance and anti-corruption efforts, setting a precedent for greater transparency in public office.
