President John Dramani Mahama has appointed legal practitioner Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah as acting Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC).
Mr. Twumasi Ankrah takes over form Mr. Michael Ansah as the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation which is tasked by its enabling enactment, Act 976 to develop and promote a globally competitive Integrated Aluminium Industry (IAI) in Ghana.
He is a lawyer with many years of experience in practice areas such as the extractives industry, real estate, medical negligence, corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution, family and criminal defence among others.
He has advised several clients and undertakes legal analysis covering legal risk, compliance and investment analysis,energy policies and on family law in Ghana.
Twumasi Ankrah Reindorf holds an LLM in Energy law, an LLB and and Bachelors degree in political science with sociology all from the University of Ghana.
He is currently a partner of Morrison, Twumasi & Partners where he heads the dispute resolution: litigation division of the law firm.
He has an impressive record as a lawyer and has represented clients in high profile cases both civil and criminal.
He has represented clients in mining disputes, real estate disputes, commercial or trade disputes, debt recovery, divorce and family dispute and criminal defence before the courts of Ghana and has represented them achieve outcomes beneficial to the client.
He has also provided advisory opinions and acted as transactional legal advisor to many of his clients in raising project financing, restructuring debt, obtaining the requisite regulatory and industry specific permits or approvals for their activities among others.
The Acting CEO appointee possess unique skills set which helps him to navigate the most complex of cases and find the most appropriate solution or remedy.
About GIADEC
Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) was established by an Act of Parliament, the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation Act, 2018 (Act 976) – to develop and promote a globally competitive Integrated Aluminium Industry (IAI) in Ghana.
Empowered by its object under the Act 976, GIADEC will hold and manage all of Government of Ghana (GoG)’s current and future interest and investments in the IAI which includes the entire value chain in the production of aluminium.
GIADEC currently has GoG’s entire shares in two (2) existing companies – Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) and Ghana Bauxite Company Limited (GBC).
GIADEC is seeking to partner with strategic investors including local participation across the entire bauxite and aluminium value chain – mining, refinery, smelter, and downstream industries.
GIADEC, together with a Ghanaian private partner shall hold not less than 30% stake in any new IAI venture involving a mine, refinery, or smelter.
The implementation of Ghana’s IAI includes the execution of four (4) key projects which involve the expansion of two existing operations and the development of two additional ones through joint venture partnerships.
