The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has detained Paul Adom-Otchere, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), along with two others.
The detention is connected with an ongoing investigation into a revenue assurance contract awarded to a private firm without competitive procurement.
In an official statement posted on their Facebook page, the OSP confirmed that Paul Adom-Otchere has been interviewed and charged.
However, he remains in custody after being unable to satisfy bail requirements.
Mr. Adom-Otchere was required to present two landed properties registered in his name as part of his bail conditions.
He has informed the OSP that he does not own any landed property in Ghana, resulting in his continued detention.
The two others charged alongside him are Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive of Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems.
The investigation relates to a revenue assurance contract between Ghana Airports Company Limited and a private firm owned by the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).
The OSP is probing potential procurement breaches, including the award of a sole-sourced contract to a company not approved by the GACL Board.
