Salaga South Member of Parliament Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah has announced the establishment of the Madam Ayishetu Women Empowerment Trust Fund, pledging sustained financial and logistical support to women and young people seeking livelihoods in business, agriculture and apprenticeship.
She made the announcement on Monday, January 5, 2026, during the graduation of 88 young women who successfully completed an Entrepreneurship and Apprenticeship Training Programme organised by the Business Resource Centre (BRC) of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
“I remain fully committed to the empowerment of women and young people in the Salaga South Constituency,” Hon. Zuwera said. “This Trust Fund will support women who want to venture into apprenticeship, agriculture and business by providing financial assistance and start-up kits to help them build sustainable livelihoods.”
The beneficiaries were trained in gari and rice processing, with 44 women receiving practical instruction in gari processing and another 44 trained in rice processing. To ensure immediate transition into business, the MP personally presented start-up kits to all beneficiaries.

Each gari processing trainee received a fryer, local stove, head cover and apron, while the rice processing beneficiaries were given tarpaulins, aluminium basins, dadesen, gloves, head covers and local stoves.
To further strengthen their start-up capacity, Hon. Zuwera announced a cash donation of GH¢44,000 to support the graduates’ initial business operations.
“I am confident that the beneficiaries will make effective and responsible use of the tools provided to grow their self-engineered businesses, create jobs and contribute to the development of Salaga South,” she stated, commending the women for their “resilience, commitment and determination” throughout the training.
The Municipal Director of the Business Resource Centre, Mr. Abdul Kudus Yunus, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kassim Yazid Rabiu, also charged the beneficiaries to fully utilise the skills and equipment acquired. They urged residents of the municipality to register for BRC programmes to benefit from what they described as “flagship government interventions aimed at youth and women empowerment.”
The training programme forms part of government’s broader strategy to equip young people, particularly women with employable skills to promote economic independence and local enterprise development.
