Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a presidential hopeful within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a firm promise that anyone caught selling job opportunities during his tenure as president will face imprisonment.
Addressing delegates of the NPP, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central expressed deep concern over the reported practice of party members charging fees for recruitment positions intended for fellow party supporters.
He questioned why such corrupt actions are being committed against their own people.
“Why is it that NPP, your own brothers, your own brothers, you charge them 20,000 to give their children recruitment?” Agyapong asked passionately.
He warned that if he assumes office as president, he will not tolerate such corruption. “I am telling you, if Kennedy Agyapong is the president, and I hear anybody has sold their position to anybody, I will arrest him and jail him.”
Agyapong also addressed ongoing criticisms from party insiders accusing him of disparaging NPP members, noting that some claim he reports them to the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
He dismissed these allegations, emphasizing that his fight is a grassroots struggle for fairness and justice within the party.
He urged party supporters not to fear intimidation or false allegations.
“So, I am fighting for the grassroots. I am fighting for the grassroots. So you should also fight for me. Don’t be afraid of anybody. Let’s fight together, and win together, and work together. That is the only way we can build NPP Party.”
