The 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration was held at Komfourkrom in the Pru West District on Friday, 5th December 2025 under the national theme “FEED GHANA, EAT GHANA AND SECURE THE FUTURE OF GHANA.”
The event brought together farmers, agricultural officers, traditional leaders, stakeholders, heads of departments, Assembly members, security heads, staffs from the assembly, members of the clergy, Muslim leaders and community members to honor the hardworking men and women whose contributions continue to support the district’s food supply and economic development.
The ceremony was hosted at the Komfourkrom R/C school park, where an exhibition of various farm produce, livestock, and agro-products was mounted.
Farmers from different communities showcased cassava, maize, plantain, vegetables, yam, coconut, rice, as well as poultry and livestock.
The exhibition highlighted the diversity and quality of agricultural produce within the district.
In his address, the District Agricultural Director,Mr Thomas Langa emphases on the challenge in agriculture in their life time a generation with promises of better return to investment and improved livelihood for farmers is precision agriculture and smart farming approaches.

And also very necessary for the Government to look at agriculture more as a business and determine the needs of their customers which should include linkage of agribusiness with small holder farmers with the ultimate introduction of a market promotion that should focus on import substitution, if they have to Feed, Eat Ghana and Secure Ghana.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Samuel Agyapong express his deepest appreciation and gratitude to their hardworking Farmers for the important role they play in the Nation’s economy.
And said the day marks to be a special day because it is set aside to honor and recognize the Farmers and Fisher folks in the country due to their immense contributions towards the growth and the development of the economy.
He said during a media encounter with the president of republic H E John Mahama Conversations he stated that, they cannot even think about transforming Ghana if they don’t put the right focus on agriculture.
They cannot succeed at anything if they do not first put food on the table at an affordable cost for their people. Agriculture is the cornerstone of growth,he said.
The DCE urged all residents of the district to get involved in the Akoko Nketenkete programme, regardless of their political affiliation, because it is the President’s vision to stop the importation of chicken into the country.
The MP, Hon Emmanuel Ntekuni acknowledged the farmers for their hard work in ensuring that food is always abundant in the district.
He further mentioned some investors who are willing to come to the district to engage in farming, including the NSS Secretariat, which will create job opportunities for the youth.
He also pleaded with Nananom to ensure that Fulani herdsmen stop allowing their cows to destroy people’s farms and properties.
Finally, he advised the youth to stay away from drug abuse, warning that it will destroy their future if they engage in it.
Several cultural groups performed traditional dances to entertain the gathering, while invited dignitaries presented goodwill messages applauding the hard work and sacrifices of farmers.
15 farmers were honored with awards in various categories including Best District Farmer, Best Female Farmer, Best Youth Farmer, Best Livestock Farmer, Best Crop Farmer, and Best Agaric Extension Agent.
The overall Best District Farmer received a tricycle (motor king), knapsack sprayers, Wellington boots, cutlasses, fertilizers, and assorted farming tools.
Other award winners received items such as refrigerators, bicycles, mist blowers, and certificates of honor.
In his closing remarks, the Best District Farmer expressed appreciation to the Assembly and the Department of Agriculture for recognizing their efforts.
He encouraged fellow farmers to continue working with dedication to ensure food security for the district and the nation.
The programme ended successfully with a vote of thanks by the District Coordinating Director, Mr Sulemana Ali, followed by the inspection of the exhibition stands and closing of the ceremony.
