The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, popularly known as King Zuba, has issued a stern warning to cattle owners within the metropolis, stating that all stray cattle found roaming in unauthorized areas will be seized and slaughtered.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi, the MCE expressed deep concern about the growing presence of stray cattle, particularly along key routes such as the stretch from the Kumasi Airport and Manhyia Palace to the city center.
He described the situation as not only unsightly but also a threat to public safety and the image of the city.
“I will not sit and watch visitors arrive at our beautiful airport only to be welcomed by stray cattle wandering the streets. It is unacceptable,” he said.
According to the MCE, any cattle found within city limits or entering restricted urban zones would be considered a public nuisance.
“If your cattle come into the vicinity of the city, rest assured they will be killed and handed over to the Kumasi Prisons” he warned.
He emphasized that this directive was non-negotiable and would be enforced in collaboration with city security and the police. “We’re cutting off any tolerance for stray cattle. I’ve given the order, and it will be executed.”
The directive forms part of the Assembly’s broader plan to sanitize the city, protect road users, and maintain Kumasi’s aesthetic and environmental standards.
The KMA says it will intensify monitoring in high-risk areas and penalize defaulters.
