A tragic incident unfolded in Trabuom, Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, when a local pastor, Victor Appiah, allegedly murdered his wife, Akua Emelia, before taking his own life.
The 50-year-old pastor, founder of the End Time Rapture Family Church, is reported to have beheaded his 46-year-old wife in a cassava farm on Saturday, September 28, 2024, before ingesting poison to end his life.
According to eyewitnesses and family members, the couple had a long history of domestic conflicts, which caused Akua, a mother of eight, to temporarily leave the marriage. Despite the turbulent relationship, Victor persuaded her to return home, only to carry out the brutal attack shortly after.
Kofi Bonsu, Akua’s brother, recounted that Victor asked his wife to fetch cassava from a nearby farm, where he ambushed her and severed her head with a machete. “My sister had left her husband due to misunderstandings, but he convinced her to come back. We never knew he had set a trap,” Bonsu explained.
Shockingly, after the murder, Victor called Akua’s mother to inform her of the horrific act, instructing the family to collect her body. He then committed suicide by drinking poison.
The local police have launched an investigation into the incident, while residents of Trabuom expressed their disbelief over the pastor’s actions. “Pastor Victor was well-respected in our community, always preaching about love and forgiveness. No one imagined he could do something like this,” one resident said.
The tragic event has left the community in shock, struggling to comprehend the horrific sequence of events.
