Effective October 7, transport fares increased by 20%- Transport Operators announces Transport operators in Ghana have announced a 20% increase in transport fares, effective October 7, 2024.
This decision affects both long and short-distance travel, including taxi services. The fare hike is attributed to rising vehicle and spare parts costs, inflation, and recent utility tariff increases.
“This increment is necessitated by the rising cost of vehicles, vehicle spare parts, rising inflation rate and high cost of living”, the statement said.
The Transport Operators highlighted significant price jumps for vehicles and spare parts, with examples such as the Toyota Hiace rising from 90,000 to 220,000 cedis.

We hereby serve notice to the general public about our decision to increase transport fares.
Starting from Monday, October 7, 2024, transport fares for both long and short distance travel including taxi services will increase by 20peecent.
This increment is necessitated by the rising cost of vehicles, vehicle spare parts, rising inflation rate and high cost of living.
There’s even been an increment in utility tariffs just recently.
It must always be observed that transport just like any other business thrives on favorable conditions to succeed therefore requiring profit to be recorded.
However, we are constantly running losses as a result of the matters mentioned above.
Fellow Ghanaians, the last few months have witnessed an astronomical increment in the prices of vehicles as stated below
