U.E.R:NPP sanctions 16 out of 21 suspended executives, banning them from holding positions for misconduct

On August 2, 2025, Kumasi Mail intercepted a document showing that the Upper East Regional Executive Committee of the opposition NPP has taken significant disciplinary action against party officials accused of misconduct.

Kumasi Mail on 2nd August 2025, intercepted of a document revealing major disciplinary actions taken by the Upper East Regional Executive Committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) against party officials accused of misconduct.

The Regional Executive Committee of the party has implemented sweeping disciplinary measures against 16 out of 21 party Poling station and Constituency executives following investigations into anti-party behavior during the 2024 general elections.

According to a statement signed by Regional Chairman Anthony Namoo and dated August 1, 2025, and intercepted by the disciplinary actions follow a comprehensive investigation conducted by the Regional Disciplinary Committee into complaints of misconduct against constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, polling station executives, and other party members from Pusiga and Tempane in the region.

The disciplinary process according to the release “began on January 25, 2025, when the Regional Executive Committee referred complaints of anti-party misconduct to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for investigation*.

The affected individuals were subsequently suspended pending the conclusion of the committee’s work on February 20, 2025.

Between March 22-23, 2025, all suspended individuals were invited to appear before the Regional Disciplinary Committee at the Regional Secretariat in Bolgatanga for hearings. The majority of those summoned appeared before the committee.

After concluding its investigations and compiling its report, the Regional Disciplinary Committee submitted its findings to the Regional Executive Committee on June 20, 2025. On Friday, August 1, 2025, the Regional Executive Committee on the report accepted the committee’s decisions and recommendations, of the 21 individuals investigated, 16 were found guilty of various forms of misconduct, while 5 were cleared of all charges.

Removals and Long-term Disqualifications from holding party positions:

– Musah Awudu (Constituency 1st Vice Chairman) – removed from office and disqualified from holding any party position for 5 years

– Jambeidu Ibrahim (Former Constituency Organizer) – disqualified from holding any party office for 5 years

– Ayamba James Rahman (Electoral Area Coordinator, Bulpielsi) – removed from position and disqualified from holding any party office for 5 years

– Emmanuel Awinimi Atesiba (Constituency Communications Officer for Pusiga) – removed from position and disqualified from holding any party position for 5 years

– Jacob Akazusah (Constituency Treasurer) – removed from office and disqualified from holding any party office for 5 years for misconduct in fund management, dishonesty and anti-party behavior

– Iddrisu Kadri Agoje (Constituency Deputy Nasara Coordinator) – removed from position and disqualified from holding any party office for 5 years

4-Year Disqualification from holding party positions:

– Agbango Jonathan Akugri (Electoral Area Coordinator for Basyonde/Sabzunde) – removed from position and disqualified from holding any party position for 4 years

3-Year Disqualifications from holding party positions:

– Ayaaba Jacob Asaman (Former Constituency 1st Vice Chairman) – disqualified from holding any party office for 3 years

– Awini Stephen Akparibo (Former Constituency Assistant Secretary) – disqualified from holding any party position for 3 years

– Aladago Adams Sumaila alias Nana (Party Member) – disqualified from holding any office in the party for 3 years

– Simon Ayabugri (Former Electoral Area Coordinator for Gagbiri) – disqualified from holding any position in the party for 3 years

– Azongo Stephen (Party Member) – disqualified from holding any party position for 3 years

– Alhassan Solomon Awini (Former Polling Station Secretary) – disqualified from holding any party position for 3 years

– Edward Atule Akwaka (Polling Station Chairman) – removed from position and disqualified from holding any party position for 3 years for refusing to appear before the committee

– Alhassan Abusang (Member, Constituency Council of Elders) – removed from position and disqualified from holding any party position for 3 years for refusing to appear

– Sawuda Bilgumsey (Constituency 2nd Vice Chairman) – removed from position and disqualified from holding any party position until he fully settles all amounts defrauded from party victims

Five individuals were found not guilty and freed of all charges, Ayamwaog Ibrahim (Youth Organizer, Nyosbara Polling Station),  Issifu Salifu (Former Electoral Area Coordinator, Woriyanga),  Abugbilla Tahiru (Party Member), Salifu Ibn Adams (Constituency Research & Elections Officer) and Haruna Salam (Constituency Assistant Secretary).

All disciplinary measures take effect from February 20, 2025. The Regional Executive Committee has directed the Constituency Executive Committees of Tempane and Pusiga to take note and replace the affected officers in line with the party’s constitution.

The Regional Chairman expressed gratitude to the Regional Disciplinary Committee members for undertaking their constitutional mandate with tact and professionalism.
