The National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Afigya Kwabre North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr Emmanuel Jackson Agumah held an emergency meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmero, to discuss opportunities for expanding healthcare infrastructure in Afigya Kwabre North.
The meeting was held on Wednesday November 20, 2024 in Kumasi served as a platform for Mr Agumah who doubles as President and Founder of the BUVA Foundation to share his vision for a more robust healthcare system and highlighted the need for partnerships to address community challenges.
“The Ambassador assured me of linking me to other organizations that can help build more health centers,” Mr. Agumah noted.
Drawing on his experiences as a 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow under President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative, Mr. Agumah spoke about the importance of leadership and leveraging international networks to benefit local communities.
“The fellowship taught me to use my expertise and connections to make life better for people,” he explained. “Good leadership is essential for reducing corruption, boosting local production, and creating sustainable development.”
Mr Agumah who has opportunities to travel to 40 countries in the world urged young leaders to uphold principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability, emphasizing that the country needs individuals with character and vision to drive progress.
Call for Structural Reforms
Mr. Agumah also highlighted the need for policy reforms to reduce Ghana’s reliance on imports and encourage local production.
He stressed the importance of economic self-reliance, calling for greater investment in domestic industries to improve the nation’s balance of payments.
Additionally, he advocated for asset declaration by public officials as a means to promote transparency and deter corruption.
“In western democracies, public asset declarations hold leaders accountable and discourage the amassing of wealth through corrupt means,” he said.
Emmanuel Jackson Agumah’s initiatives and advocacy underscore his commitment to fostering sustainable development in Afigya Kwabre North and beyond.
His work with the BUVA Foundation, coupled with his engagement in national and international platforms, positions him as a leader dedicated to improving lives through healthcare, education, and community development.
