Alex Kwaku Asafo Agyei, Registrar of the Scholarship Secretariat, has advised Ghanaians not to pay any bribes to obtain scholarships.
In an interview with United TV monitored by Kumasimail, Asafo Agyei, who hails from Asante Mampong, emphasized that he is not greedy and does not accept money in exchange for scholarships.
He said, “Money is good, but it must be earned the right way.”
He urged the public to reject any demands for payment related to scholarship applications.
“Under my regime, do not pay any money to anyone for scholarships. I am not interested in anyone’s money,” he stated firmly.
Asafo Agyei also called on those who encounter such requests to gather evidence.
He emphasized“If anyone asks you to pay money for a scholarship, go undercover, record a video or take a photo, and bring it to me. I will personally hand it over to the CID for investigation and arrest.”
Asafo Agyei assured Ghanaians that he will not accept even a single pesewa from anyone.
He explained that scholarship funds come from taxes paid by hardworking market traders, which are then allocated by the Finance Minister to the Scholarship Secretariat.
“Such money, if you think you are greedy and believe you can sell scholarships it’s not about the present; the future is what matters. The cries of ordinary people will not let you have peace,” he added.
