The fate of embattled Member of Parliament for Akwatia Ernest Yaw Kumi hangs in the balance as the Supreme Court says it cannot grant him audience when he has failed to submit himself to the rule of law in a contempt case at the High Court in Koforidua.
Currently, the panel of five chaired by Justice Gabriel Pwamang with Justice Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu? Justice Ernest Gaewu, Justice Anthony Kwofie and Justice Adjei Frimpong as other members have retired into chambers for deliberation.
Attempt by Gary Nimako, Counsel for the MP who has been convicted for Contempt was met with resistance by the panel particularly the presiding judge who said that “we cannot give him audience when he has not submitted himself to the rule of law.”
However, the embattle Ernest Yaw Kumi was not at the Supreme Court but was represented by Minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin (as a colleague).
