The Wenchi Municipal Assembly will convene a special meeting on Wednesday, March 9, 2025, to confirm the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee, Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, whose appointment awaits approval by Assembly Members.
The meeting, scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Methodist Cathedral in Wenchi, Bono Region, will also feature the inauguration of newly appointed government officials and the election and swearing-in of a new Presiding Member.
Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, a nominee from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is expected to secure a two-thirds majority of votes from Assembly Members to officially assume office as the Wenchi MCE.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Wenchi-based Radio West Africa, monitored by www.kumasimail.com Stans Sofel Amuzu Kpodo, the Wenchi Municipal Director of the Information Services Department and Public Relations Officer for the Assembly, confirmed the agenda for the meeting.

Former Presiding Member of the Assembly, Samuel Mensah, congratulated the nominee and appealed to members to give her a 100% endorsement, emphasizing the importance of unity in driving development in the municipality.

Meanwhile, Mr. Alfred Ofori Anye, a former Deputy CEO of PBC Limited, also urged Assembly Members to set aside political differences and prioritize the election of a Presiding Member to enable the smooth confirmation of the MCE nominee.
The outcome of the vote will determine whether Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi will assume the mantle of leadership to spearhead development initiatives in the Wenchi Municipality.
