The Western Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for four suspected armed robbers who attacked a gold buying shop in Teleku Bokazo, near Esiama, in the Ellembelle District.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 5:30pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, when six armed men wielding AK-47 rifles and machetes stormed the gold trading facility and unleashed terror on staff.
The suspects reportedly shot one shop attendant and inflicted machete wounds on another before fleeing the scene toward the Salman Community. A swift response from the police patrol team led to a gun battle with the fleeing suspects.
One of the robbers, later identified as 34-year-old Abdul Rahman, was critically injured during the exchange of fire. Before succumbing to his injuries at the St. Martin De Porres Hospital in Ekwie, Rahman reportedly named a man called Mohammed and others as his accomplices.

The victims of the attack 29-year-old Samuel Appiah, who sustained a machete wound on his right thigh, and 45-year-old Kwamena Netiah, who was shot in both thighs are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Police investigations led to the arrest of Mohammed Adamu, aged 25, on August 1, 2025, after his name was mentioned by the deceased suspect. Adamu is currently in custody assisting with investigations.

A search of the bush area where the suspects fled revealed critical evidence, including:
•Seven spent AK-47 shell casings
•Eight live AK-47 rounds
•Two used BB cartridges and empty cases
•Two motorbike keys

The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public that all efforts are being made to track down the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
Police are also appealing to the public to volunteer any relevant information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
