President John Dramani Mahama’s first 120 days in office have begun to yield tangible benefits, particularly in easing the cost of living for ordinary.
A local food vendor has publicly praised the President following a notable drop in prices of essential food items after his recent market visit.
She highlighted that a gallon of cooking oil, which previously sold for GHS 1,000, is now available for GHS 680, while a bag of rice has fallen to GHS 380.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, she said, “Mahama, you’re my savior… this oil was initially bought at GHS 1,000, today it’s GHS 680. The yam I bought today is 40 cedis. I can’t even carry it. Mahama, you are a swagger”
This vendor credited the President’s intervention for the relief in market prices, adding, “The work you’re doing is helping me, God bless you. At first, I cried when I went to the market”.
President Mahama’s administration has been marked by a determined effort to stabilize the economy, restore confidence, and improve governance.
Since his inauguration on January 7, 2025, the government has implemented key reforms including enhanced anti-corruption measures, fiscal discipline, and social welfare revitalization.
The Ghanaian cedi has recorded its strongest performance against the US dollar in recent years, reflecting renewed investor confidence and prudent economic management.
