The latest Auditor General’s report on District Assemblies’ finances for the year ending December 31, 2024, has uncovered a serious financial irregularity at the Asante Akim South Assembly.
According to the report, 21 revenue collectors collectively collected GH¢33,359.00 in revenue but failed to account for a single pesewa to the Assembly.
The report detailed that these 21 revenue collectors accounted for nothing from the total amount collected, effectively pocketing the entire sum.
The breakdown revealed:

• Amount accounted for: GH¢0.00
• Amount unaccounted for: GH¢33,359.00
The Auditor General’s office flagged this failure to account for revenue collection records (GCRs) and corresponding funds as a potentially serious case of misappropriation.
The absence of these funds denies the Assembly critical resources needed to fund its daily operations and development projects.
The report further highlighted the consequences of such negligence, noting that “Assemblies would be forced to rely heavily on the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to cover administrative expenses.”
This reliance often results in delayed or abandoned development projects due to insufficient internally generated funds.
