The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has announced an investigation into concerns over the quality and quantity of meals served to pupils at Buaduyili Primary School in the Nanumba North Municipality under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).
In a statement issued on June 9, the Ministry said it had taken note of media reports and complaints raised by parents and teachers regarding meals being provided at the school.
The Ministry reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that all children benefiting from the School Feeding Programme receive adequate, nutritious, and quality meals in a safe learning environment. It noted that the programme remains a key social protection initiative aimed at reducing hunger, improving school enrolment and attendance, and enhancing the nutritional well-being of schoolchildren nationwide.
According to the statement, the Ministry, working together with the Ghana School Feeding Programme Secretariat, has begun investigations to establish the facts surrounding the reported incident. It added that appropriate sanctions would be imposed on any individual or organization found responsible for wrongdoing after the investigations are concluded.
The Ministry also emphasized that the government, through its Reset Agenda, is implementing measures to strengthen social protection interventions and improve the financing, monitoring, and implementation of the School Feeding Programme. It stressed that any actions that undermine the programme’s standards, objectives, and integrity would not be tolerated.
The Ministry called on regional and zonal coordinators, metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies, community leaders, parents, the media, and the public to support efforts to monitor the programme and promote transparency and accountability.
MoGCSP reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the Ghana School Feeding Programme and ensuring that it continues to serve the best interests of Ghanaian children and contribute to their growth, development, and education.
