Odumase Circuit Court in Eastern Region has jailed,a 25 -year old sex trafficking kingpin in Agormanya, Baba Issa, to 10 year – imprisonment.
He pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and sextortion and assult .
Prosecutors in the case ASP Augustine K. Asante Kusi, Odumase District Crime Officer, and Chief Inspector John Kwasi Brahene told the court that on April 6, 2025, at around 01:00 hrs, Desmond Agmortey ,a regular client solicited sex from Ella Elizabeth ,26, one of the commercial sex worker but misunderstanding ensued between them.
Ella placed distressed call to Baba Issa who mobilized his thugs to assult Desmond Agmortey and extorted GHC 1,200 from him through his brother under threat of releasing damming video of the incident.
Desmond reported the incident to the Police which Baba Issa and Ella Elizabeth were arrested.
Prosecution revealed that, Police investigation unravelled the ellicit sex trafficking business operated by the accused.
According to the prosecution, Baba Issa lured young women from Nigeria to Agomanya in Ghana under the pretext of securing them decent jobs only to force them into prostitution upon arrival and house them in different locations.
He forcibly engage his victims into sex work to make weekly sales GHC 150 .
The convict is believed to have run the illegal enterprise since 2024, using WhatsApp groups to get his victims.
He was sentenced to 10 years according to his own plea of guilty and fined GHC 2,400 in default serve an additional year all to run concurrently.
The commercial Sex worker Ella Elizabeth, 26, also pleaded guilty to prostitution and was fined GHC 2,400.
