Senior media practitioner and host of Eboboba on Adehye FM, Ebenezer Yaw Jonah, popularly known as Osempakani has sharply criticized Samuel Pyne, former MCE for Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly(KMA) dismissing his attempt to advise the current mayor, Kwasi Ofori Agyeman Boadi.
Osempakani questioned Pyne’s credibility, labeling him the worst mayor in the region’s history and asserting that he lacks the standing to offer guidance.
His comments came amid public backlash against Mayor Boadi’s recent proposal to use corporal punishment against traders occupying pavements in Kumasi’s central business district.
On his show monitored by Kumasimail.com, Ebenezer Jonah reiterated his support for both President John Dramani Mahama’s administration and Ofori Agyeman leadership, emphasizing the need to uphold the mayor’s reputation.
He said “like I have pledged my support for President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, and I will also stand behind Kwasi Ofori Agyeman to ensure he leaves a lasting positive legacy at the Assembly. But when it comes to advice, Sam Pyne should not be in that conversation” he noted.
Jonah did not hold back in his assessment of Pyne’s tenure as mayor.
He emphasized “I heard that when the matter arose, people were expressing their opinions on it, and Sam Pyne also advised King Zuba. As I always say, pray that you will have long life; that is the only thing you should ask God for—long life and good health because the things you will hear, Sam Pyne is advising whom?
“Since Kumasi was known as KCC until it became KMA, Sam Pyne is the worst mayor ever. Even his own people admit he failed in the job. And now he wants to advise Zuba? This world is not fair.”
He recalled the infamous waste bins project initiated under Pyne’s administration, which ended in failure.
“The waste bins Sam Pyne ordered are still at the Assembly, mostly broken and unused—they have become waste themselves. He inherited funds from his predecessor, Osei Assibey, but look at how he squandered them.”
Jonah challenged the public to reflect on Pyne’s legacy, and warned that the current mayor would be worse off if he heeded Pyne’s advice. .
“What has Sam Pyne truly achieved for Kumasi? If Zuba listens to his advice, he will only end up worse off”.
Instead of Pyne, Jonah urged Mayor Boadi to heed the counsel of respected former mayors and leaders like “Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Mama Pat, Kojo Bonsu, and Dr. Samuel Sarpong who have proven track records. Listen carefully to their advice. Even with Osei Assibey, take what is useful and leave the rest. But Sam Pyne? No.”
