The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has officially rescheduled this year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration to November 8, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region.
This marks the 40th edition of the event, which will focus on the theme “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Alisa Hotel at 4:00 p.m., where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will honor outstanding farmers across 16 categories.
No Regional Celebrations This Year
In a departure from previous years, regional-level celebrations will not be held. Instead, each region has been invited to nominate winners for ten regional award categories.
“Please note that there will be no regional-level celebrations this year. However, each region is permitted to nominate winners for ten (10) regional award categories.”
Awards Night Ceremony
The awardees will be honored at an Awards Night Ceremony, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, on November 8. Regional Ministers will confer awards on the honourees from their respective regions.
“These awardees are required to travel to Accra on Friday, 8th November 2024, where they will be honoured at the Awards Night Ceremony, taking place at 4:00 p.m. at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge.”
The Ministry noted that all expenses for regional award winners will be covered by their respective Regional Coordinating Councils, and attendance is mandatory for Regional Ministers and Directors of Agriculture.
“Kindly be informed that all expenses related to the participation of regional award winners, including travel, accommodation, and meals, should be covered by their respective Regional Coordinating Councils”
“All Regional Ministers and their Regional Directors of Agriculture are requested to attend the Awards Night Ceremony. The costs for your participation will similarly be borne by your respective Regional Coordinating Councils”, the statement explained.
