Ahead of the unveiling of the Youth Manifestoe of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday August 12, 2024, the National Youth Organizer of the NDC George Opare Addo has disclosed key policy initiatives for the youth in the manifesto.
Addressing Students of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) after room to room engagement of some students, George Opare Addo said the next NDC government has proposed automatic admission fee payment by the Student Loan Trust Fund for tertiary students who apply for support.
He said what will be required is only the admission form which the fund will ensure the institution registers the students to attend lectures.
“Under this proposal, students would need to submit their admission letters and a completed form to the Trust, which will then liaise with educational institutions for automatic registration of such students’’.
Opare Addo also announced plans to establish a Street Light Authority designed to provide employment and training opportunities for youth in street light maintenance as part of the 24-hour economy.
“Additionally, the NDC aims to create global internet-based job opportunities for young people in Ghana’’.
Deputy National Youth Organizer Ruth Sedor also revealed other aspects of the manifesto, including skill training programs and initiatives for empowering young women. They said when speaking to journalists in Koforidua.
The two -day campaign event was climaxed Saturday with “24-hour Economy Walk” in collaboration with New Juaben South Constituency of the party, where NDC supporters gathered in large numbers.
Various speakers, including Deputy National Youth Organizer Osman Abdulai Ayariga, criticized the current government and pledged a vigorous campaign leading up to the December 7 elections which will make the country uncomfortable and ungovernable for the government in power.
