Former Vice Chairman of the Nhyeaso Constituency Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region, Mawuli Agbevita, PRO for Film Producers Association and warfare officer has accused actress and film producer and known NDC sympathizer Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu of peddling falsehood about some claims she made at NDC event suggesting former President Dramani Mahama bout cars for some Kumawood members in support of their production.
Addressing the media over the weekend the disgruntled former NDC vice Chairman who has joined the ruling New Patriotic Party out of bitterness said “ I have seen a video circulating on social media where Mercy Asiedu the movie actress is advocating for Ghanaian and vote for the NDC’s flag bearer former President John Dramani Mahama. Because when he was in government he bought cars for movie actors and equally supported some veteran actors. To me I would like to state the fact that she lied about that statement. It is not true’’ he said.
Mawuli Agbevita, explained that “ the list they sent to Accra the very day they were compelling it. I was there and I saw every name that was recorded in the book. At the time I was the Nhyeaso constituency vice Chairman for the NDC. I asked Rockson, who was compiling the name of beneficiaries, what is the arrangement on paper word those who will take the cars I mean payment plan ? And he said every month we will pay money. Someone who is jobless, how can I pay so I rejected the offer so I didn’t take it “ he disclosed.
He said “ the money they used to buy the cars was from MASLOG so the actors were supposed to pay for the cars they received from the John Mahama government installment. Ask Oheneneyere Mercy Asiedu and her colleagues who took the cars that have paid for the cost of the car in the agreement document they signed before taking the cars. If know ask Mercy Asiedu that who is servicing that debt they left as MASLOG?’’ he asked.
Mawuli Agbevita also known in the creative art industry further accused Mercy Asiedu of supporting thievery by failing to settle her debt at MASLOG.
He said the debt that the Kumawood actors failed to service at the MASLOG has been cleared by the present New Patriotic Party.
However he asked “ is Deceitful Marcy Asiedu happy that she and other colleagues in the creative industry took a government car loan from the previous government and defaulted payment. So I want to tell Ghanaians that former President John Mahama never took his pocket money to buy cars for any Kumawood actors’’ he reiterated.
