Ten illegal miners have been confirmed dead following a mine cave-in at Manso Tontokrom in the Ashanti Region, authorities have said.
Thirty others sustained critical injuries in the incident and are receiving treatment, while an unspecified number of miners are believed to remain trapped beneath the debris as rescue operations continue.
The injured have been admitted to Hwidiem Hospital for medical care.
Officials have yet to disclose the cause of the collapse or confirm the total number of miners who were working at the site at the time of the incident.
Rescue efforts are ongoing as emergency responders work to locate any remaining survivors.
