The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Akwasi, has called on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to urgently explain the recent power outages affecting parts of the Ashanti Region.
In a statement issued on April 8, the NDC regional chairman expressed concern over the recurrence of “dumsor,” warning that the situation risks undermining public confidence in the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
“As the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, I will not watch in silence as President Mahama is disgraced with ‘dumsor,’” he stated, urging ECG to communicate clearly with residents about the causes of the outages.
He emphasized the need for transparency and timely updates from the power distributor to help manage public expectations and reduce frustration among affected communities.
The comments come amid growing concerns from residents and businesses in the region over inconsistent electricity supply, which has disrupted economic activities and daily life.
The NDC chairman stressed that proactive communication from ECG would not only address misinformation but also demonstrate accountability in managing the power situation.
He further urged authorities to take swift measures to resolve the challenges and ensure a stable and reliable power supply across the Ashanti Region.
