Ghana’s 2026 National Best Farmer is set to receive a prize package worth millions of cedis, including GH¢1.2 million in cash, a brand-new Nissan Navara pickup, a tractor and a seven-day all-expenses-paid trip to Italy.
The winner will also be accompanied by a spouse or partner on the Italy trip, which is being sponsored by Mehak Company Limited as part of activities marking the 42nd National Farmers’ Day Celebration.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms.
The Italy trip will combine agricultural study and leisure, exposing the overall winner to modern farming technologies, sustainable production systems, agricultural value chains and food-processing innovations.
The Ministry said it had completed negotiations with the Embassy of Italy to facilitate travel arrangements for the eventual winner and the accompanying spouse or partner.
Beyond the international exposure, the overall winner will receive a brand-new tractor and accessories, agricultural inputs and other prizes in addition to the GH¢1.2 million cash award and Nissan Navara.
The package is intended to reward outstanding performance while providing the winner with resources to expand farming operations and improve productivity.
Meanwhile, the 2026 National Best Poultry Farmer will also benefit from a seven-day, all-expenses-paid technical and benchmarking trip to Italy, sponsored by Covenant Farms.
The poultry farmer’s visit will focus on modern poultry production systems, technology, sustainable practices and value-chain development.
The Ministry said the international exposure was part of efforts to support the modernisation of Ghana’s agriculture by giving leading farmers access to practical knowledge and innovations from advanced agricultural systems.
It also commended Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms for supporting the Farmers’ Day celebrations and recognising the contribution of farmers to food security and the national economy.
