Asantehene’s convoy safe, reports of attack in Techiman are false
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Reports claiming that the convoy of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, was attacked by some youth in Techiman, Bono East Region, are false.

Speculation on social media suggested that the King’s convoy was ambushed while returning from the burial rites of the late Paramount Queen of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani Mmrosa II.

However, Opemsuo Radio, a subsidiary of the Ashanti Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), has refuted these claims, describing them as baseless.

The Asantehene successfully completed his visit to the burial rites and returned to his official residence at the Manhyia Palace without incident on the evening of December 2, 2024.

In an official statement, Opemsuo Radio, the official media outlet of the King, confirmed the safety of the convoy and urged the public to disregard the false narrative.

Full Statement:

Asantehene’s Convoy Has Not Been Attacked

The attention of Opemsuo Radio has been drawn to rumors alleging that the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was attacked in Techiman while returning from the burial rites of the late Paramount Queen of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani Mmrosa II.

The Ashanti Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the official media organization of the King, wishes to categorically state that these reports are false and without merit.

The King arrived safely at Manhyia Palace this evening after attending the burial rites on December 2, 2024.

The public is hereby advised to dismiss these unfounded claims.

Signed:
Chief Executive Officer
Ashanti Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)
