Government has announced plans to resume work on the stalled Suame Interchange project in Kumasi, following concerns raised by residents over delays in its completion.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, in a statement shared on social media.
According to the minister, the government has settled outstanding payments owed to contractors, covering certified works that had remained unpaid since 2024. The payment is expected to pave the way for the full resumption of construction activities on the project.
He indicated that contractors are scheduled to fully mobilise back to site next week to continue and complete the interchange.
The Suame Interchange, a key infrastructure project in Kumasi, has faced delays in recent months, prompting concerns among commuters and residents about traffic congestion and economic impact in the area.
Mr. Agbodza expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering improved infrastructure.
“Together, we shall build better infrastructure for Kumasi,” he stated.
The resumption of work is expected to bring relief to motorists and businesses that rely heavily on the busy Suame corridor.
