The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has disqualified three aspirants following a two-day vetting exercise involving 65 candidates seeking various regional positions within the party.
The exercise, held at the party’s Ashanti Regional office, was aimed at assessing the eligibility and preparedness of aspirants ahead of the upcoming regional elections.
Briefing the media after the process, Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Vetting Committee, Mr. Yaw Gyan Boateng, disclosed that the three candidates were disqualified for reasons described as undisclosed and technical.
He, however, indicated that the affected aspirants could still address the issues identified by the committee and return to resolve their shortcomings before the election deadline.
Mr. Boateng commended all 65 aspirants for taking the initiative to contest for leadership positions, describing the filing of nominations as an indication of their willingness to contribute to the party’s administration and development in the region.
He stressed that seeking a leadership position comes with the responsibility to demonstrate competence, commitment and the ability to advance the collective interests of the NDC.
The committee chairman also used the occasion to caution aspirants against personal attacks and insulting politics during the campaign period.
He urged candidates to focus on clean, respectful and issue-based campaigns, emphasising that unity among party members would be critical to the NDC’s success.
Mr. Boateng further reminded aspirants that every member of the party plays an important role in its progress, urging them to avoid actions that could create divisions or undermine the party’s cohesion.
The vetting exercise marks a key step in the NDC’s Ashanti Regional electoral process, with attention now turning to the resolution of outstanding concerns and the campaigns ahead of the elections.
