The Member of Parliament for Damongo and former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. John Abu Jinapor, has appealed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to recognize the dedication and sacrifices of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by selecting him as the party’s next flagbearer.
Hon. Jinapor stated that Dr. Bawumia has given up significant personal and professional opportunities for the advancement and success of the NPP and therefore deserves the chance to lead the party into the future.
He made these comments while accompanying Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, an aspirant for the NPP’s flagbearer position, together with members of his campaign team, during an engagement with party delegates in the Bantama Constituency.
According to Hon. Jinapor, Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated unwavering loyalty and commitment to the party, consistently offering his support over the years.
He explained that Dr. Bawumia could have pursued a lucrative and prestigious international career, especially during his tenure at the Bank of Ghana, but instead chose to resign and devote himself fully to the NPP in a spirit of sacrifice and service.
Hon. Jinapor further observed that no other politician within the party has faced as much criticism and vilification as Dr. Bawumia, yet he has remained resolute, disciplined, and firmly committed to the party’s principles.
In his address to delegates in the Bantama Constituency, Hon. Jinapor urged them to carefully evaluate Dr. Bawumia’s vision, humility, unifying leadership style, and dedication to national development, and to support him as the NPP’s flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
