The newly appointed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Banda, Peter Donji, has issued a stern warning to staff of the Banda District Assembly to desist from absenteeism, habitual lateness, and general apathy towards work.
He said such attitudes negatively impact productivity and district development that also denies the assembly revenue.
In an interview with Wenchi-based Radio West Africa on Tuesday morning, Mr. Donji urged Assembly workers to recommit themselves to their duties and prioritize punctuality and attendance.
“Absenteeism, lateness, and leaving work before closing hours will no longer be tolerated. Such attitudes derail our development efforts,” he emphasized.
He called on all Assembly staff to demonstrate a renewed sense of discipline, dedication, and responsibility in their various roles, adding that misconduct will be dealt with decisively.
The DCE’s remarks come shortly after his unanimous confirmation by the Assembly Members (AMs) of the Banda District at a special meeting held at Banda Ahenkro on Monday, April 14, 2025. Mr. Donji received 100 percent endorsement from the AMs.
During the same session, Honourable Osman Yahaya was elected as the new Presiding Member for the Assembly.
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, Religious Affairs and Sanitation, Ahmed Ibrahim, and the Bono Regional Minister, Lawyer Joseph Akwaboa Addai.
Both ministers congratulated the newly appointed DCE and other Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region, urging them to collaborate with stakeholders to advance President John Dramani Mahama’s “Resetting Agenda”.
